My interest in photographing Lifesaving is not just because it is aesthetic , but like surfing I have a personal connection to the sport. In my late teens and early 20s. I was actively part of lifesaving South Africa. I competed provincially at club level and it formed much of my lifestyle in those early years of development. It taught me much about myself the sea and how to save lives.which has come in handy when pulling struggling people out the surf, which happens at least once a year at my local surf break.
